| This is the JRS Eastern
Africa section of the international JRS
website. Often lodged in the poorest of countries,
refugees and displaced persons face growing impoverishment,
loss of a sense of life and culture, with consequent
hopelessness and despair. In Eastern
Africa, - We accompany our
brothers and sisters.
- We serve
them as companions.
- We advocate their
cause in an uncaring world.

| There are over 45 million refugees and
displaced people in today's world, 80% of whom are women
and children... The Jesuit Refugee
Service accompanies many of these brothers and
sisters of ours, serving them as companions, advocating
their cause in an uncaring world. |
